Recording session — Expaz Studios

Recording

Live drums, guitars, reamp, vocals, brass, strings, choir, ensembles. Permanently mic'd Tama kit — no setup time, track the moment inspiration hits. Location and field recording available.

Mix & Mastering

Full session mix or stem mix, plus stereo and stem mastering for streaming, vinyl, and broadcast — in our fully calibrated Montreal room. Stereo and Atmos music mixes through 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Final loudness, format normalization, and delivery-ready files. Mix and mastering available together or independently.

Overdubs & session work

Come or send us your project — we add what's missing. Guitar reamping and stem reamping through real amps in a real room. Analog synth layering and enhancement through our hardware collection — when your soft synths need real analog character, we have the signal chain. Stems back, ready to drop in. Remote sessions available.

Original score & composition

Collaborating with composers and musicians, Expaz has been crafting original music for over two decades — commercials, television, documentary, short film, theatre, and corporate projects.

A fully calibrated mix room with a large reference screen, full Atmos monitoring array, and a window directly into the 7440 cuft live room. Record and mix in the same session without leaving the building.

The room was designed, built, and calibrated through art and science — acoustics, monitoring chain, and ergonomics. It sounds the way it does because someone here made it that way.

Live room

7440 cuft of treated space — large enough for a brass section, quiet enough for a solo vocal. The room was designed, built, and calibrated through art and science. The room sounds the way it does because someone here designed it, built it, and measured it.

Our room meets Dolby's recommendations and guidelines for Atmos music mixing and is listed in the Dolby Atmos Music Studio Directory — one of a handful of rooms in Montreal to have done so. Home entertainment and music Atmos formats both available.

Deliverables meet Netflix, streaming platform, and broadcast specifications. Crise d'Ado (2025) — Dolby Atmos mix, now streaming worldwide on Netflix.

The guitars in the photos below are modified instruments — each with a specific mod story. The amp head shell in the background is custom-built in-house, stock heads in a custom GuyDub enclosure, designed to roll into the mix room for reamping sessions with a speaker cable through the wall.
